rattling noise in 2wd but goes away when switched to 4WD

Hi all, I was hoping someone may have encountered this issue and could help me. I took my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer in for a new wheel bearing because I heard a slight noise. I took it to Les Shwab and they said wheel bearings were fine but my cv axles were leaking grease which they were. They replaced both cv axles and on the drive home it made a loud horrible clunking-rattling sound. I took it back and they swapped out the cv axles in case it was a bad axle but the noise was still there but not as bad. They said it was not the dust shield.

When I put it in 4wd the sound goes away but as soon as I put it back in 2wd the sound comes back. I took it to a shop and they said it did not sound like it was coming from the differential and could not figure it out. I am not sure if my 4wd even works but the sound goes away as soon as I put it in 4wd.

I have no idea what it could be and was hoping someone has encountered this before. The fact it goes away in 4wd drive seems like it would narrow it down a little. I will try and figure out how to upload the video of the sound. Any advice for information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Another Schwab success story!

Why o-why do people go to these clowns?

Schwab screwed YOUR pooch --- it wasn't doing that before --- but it is since they "fixed it" for you.

If you don't stand up to them, you need to get "fixed" too.

For anyone else that has the same issues, it was the four wheel drive disconnect. It was making noise in 2 wheel drive but not when switched to four wheel drive. My four wheel drive had not worked for years and the new disconnect fixed the noises and the four wheel drive, it was not that difficult to change either. It was making noise before the axles were changed but the noise got worse and louder when the axles were changed. After a new disconnect, no noise and four wheel drive works again.
