I could be mistaken, but I don't believe 2WD models had CV axles.

 

I have a 2008 trail blazer too and it's a 2 wd and it doesn't have the front axles so I don't know if they don't come with them or they took them out?

 

Makes sense. No power to fronts so no need (?) Man, now I feel stupid because I have 2 new CV axles coming via Amazon Prime. Anyone know how I can tell for certain 2WD's don't have front CV's?

 

There's no front differential to plug them into!

So my question to that comment is why did the factory put a hole through the oil pan a 2wd 2002 trailblazer with a 4.2 liter and splines in the wheel hubs if they don't need CV axles

 

Because they made just one version of that engine to fit both 2 and 4WD vehicles.

It's simple economics on an engine that was negative cash flow for GM in the first place.

If they had to build and stock 2 different engines, then there'd be extra warehouse floor space demands for two engines when one fits, works and doesn't cause any untoward problems either way.

 

But wouldn't a CV Axle also serve to help hold the front wheel hub together like keeping the spot with the rotor and lugs attached to the back part of the hub. I figured if that nut for the CV axle would help hold the hub together also besides the 4 9/16 bolts that hold the hub on the back

 

The gland nut does NOT hold the hub together.

You are suffering from a misconception --- the hubs are completely self-contained and stand - er: roll for- and of- themselves without support of an axle stub and gland nut to assist.

Looks good to me.

But if you want to, you can stick some flowers in the hole to make them pretty.

Otherwise --- you ain't missing nuthin'.
