Does the Trailblazer have a Tow/Haul Mode? If not, is there any way to give it one? In S10 land, there were a million S10 variants and exactly ONE of them had a tow mode. I think it was a special edition Jimmy. So you could wire up the switch, flash the computer, and you could give it a tow mode. Is there anything similar and relatively easy you can do for the TB? Maybe swipe a module out of a Colorado or something that had it?
When it comes to towing in my Blazer, as much as a V8 would be great, what really kills you is the terrible 4L60 gear selection. It's not ideal under normal conditions. And when towing, it is always in the wrong gear. It holds when you want it to downshift, it downshifts when you want it to hold. It goes all over the place.
I have yet to even drive a Trailblazer, and I doubt I'll get to tow my boat as part of my test drive. However I suspect that it will have similar issues that would be greatly improved by a tow mode.
I have a utility trailer that from time to time, I load up with 3000-4000 lbs of whatever I need (wood, dirt, mulch, whatever). But when I do that, its usually for short local transporting, rarely on the highway. But I also have a 2000 lbs boat (total weight) that I would like to drive on the highway. I used to until my Blazer started to have issues. There are lots of road trips I'd like to take with the boat, but even with a 2000 lbs load, the old truck struggles a lot at highway speeds. Even though it's rated for 5000 lbs towing. I can't imagine moving that much with it.
