I've seen these mentioned on the Bob Is The Oil Guy forum. People over there really like them as well for warm weather use.

We are supposed to get rain here today as well. I do not know how big the drops will be.

Pat Sajak...really?

OK, since it is not Harpo, how about Sterling Holloway, a.k.a. Professor Oscar Quinn, from the "Adventures of Superman"?

So the tablets are...detergent and blue dye. Why spend money for detergent and blue dye in a tablet, when you already have dishwasher detergent or laundry detergent, (both are non-foaming/sudsing) and food color in the house? (Ask SWMBO for both...)

I make my own windshield washer fluid using water, dishwasher detergent, and blue food color. Use less detergent than you think you need. Same with the dye.

Works great from May to September. The rest of the time, I need washer fluid that won't freeze.

Since we got to -10°/-20°F here in the winter, I use a 50:50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and ammonia for a non-freezing cleaner.

Everclear works well too.

That mix is what Windex is made from - plus the blue color.

The tablets are just an easy way to keep fluid available all the time -- a few tabs in the glovebox and when you run out on a drive, you can make more.

Beware of harsh chemicals that could damage paint as the fluid drizzles off the windshield. Alcohol is a given, not so sure about ammonia and paint.

I never would have guessed him. I remember listening to some of his music in the early 1970s on the radio, but that was it.
