im not sure how this would be related, but i know some cars and trucks can have tranny issues if there is an electrical problem. some will go in limp mode if the alt is going out etc..

i installed a compustar remote start with idatalink bypass module that connects to a wire on the obd port. installed it and it worked fine with i tested it. next day, i remote started the truck and jumped in threw it in R to back out and it killed. shove the key in started flipped the key on and off wondering why it wouldnt start (i was half asleep lol) then i realized it was in reverse still lol

half way to work 10 miles i noticed the service engine soon light was on. later that day had it read at the parts store and it was 2 transmission related codes. solenoid this or that i forget. had the codes cleared.

this is all in the same day - later that night after clearing the codes my transmission started acting up like there was no 1st gear. it seems like the last time 1st worked it shifted extra hard into 2nd, then didnt work anymore. even if i manual shifted it. i think i got it to work once or twice by putting it in park and shutting the car off. it acts like if you accidently start your manual trans car in 2nd or 3rd from a stop. the codes did not come back.

i dont see how the remote start could be related but its just weird it started happening following day after i installed it.

It was years ago but a quick Google search shows DEI 455G which sounds right. I remember reading something about a second ignition wire and some other stuff. I double checked and all my stuff was good. I'm wondering if the diagrams are wrong somewhere. I also used a Bulldog T harness so maybe thats not built correctly. That was like 2 years ago and my dad wound up not selling it but he prefers not to mess with it more.

Did you use a T harness or splice in directly? My dads TB is 05. My TB is 02 and I spliced directly.

weird. i did remote start it everytime before i got in it that day. today i pulled it in my garage and let it warm up for a few hours, started it with the key, checked the trans fluid it was ok. drove it around and it drove perfect. went and got some gas and started it with the key again, it drove perfect..

it did cross my mind that maybe it only has issues when its remote started. do you know what bypass module was used in your truck? i have the idatalink al-ca but im not sure which firmware which i was also thinking might be an issue? i [purched it online from 12voltsavings and you can pay $3 and they will send it out flashed for your vehicle. i put in the comments at checkout what truck i have, but then i noticed on the idatalink site there is 2 or 3 differnt installs for this module depending on what firmware the box is flashed with.

im not sure if you do a "type 3 install" but it actually has a differnt firmware, if it wont work at all or what. as far as i can tell, the gm1 or whatever the better firmware is controls more stuff via data, locks, factory alarm, start signal etc. not just antitheft bypass.

You are not alone! I installed a remote start in my dads 05 TB and had the same problem but only if he remote started and then drove off. If he shut it off first and then started with the key there was no issue. Very strange issue that we never figured out. The dealership said it was the remote start but could not tell us why/how. The install was spot on as I installed one in my 02 TB and have no issues whatsoever. I wound up removing it because we could not figure it out and at the time he was having thoughts of trading it in

If you remote start, get in and shut it off and then key start it does the problem happen?

its very odd it started happening the next day after i installed the remote start, on the other hand, if you google no first gear etc.. there is alot of problems with the valve body and other electrical solenoids failing in these trans. i think its going to be very hard to figure out if the two were related if my trans has a problem now after i disconnect the remote start.

ive installed several remote starts, but never one that controlled some things via data bus, really not sure if a botched remote start install (i cant say it is because its functioning how it supposed to) could effect the trans.

im just hoping if my trans needs repair it somthing i can take care of it without removal

I have NOT installed a remote start, but do know when aftermarket electrical items are tied into the factory electrical system, havoc can be the result.

If mine, I would disconnect the remote start immediately, before you end up with a smoked tranny. They are electrically controlled.

If you don't have a T.B. Service Manual, with schematics, get one and see what has happened.
