We know all about the "exhaust fan" problem. Assuming it's code P0410, just run a search here and read for a while.

There are four typical causes of that problem:

Air turbine blower under the vehicle, on the frame under the driver. Hoses get clogged with gunk and water.

Blower relay - mounted next to the blower.

Fuses and wiring in the engine compartment.

Exhaust manifold solenoid valve - mounted to the exhaust manifold.

Each of these has a documented way to troubleshoot it - just read up. Don't waste money at the dealer unless you have it to burn. Assuming you're a clever person who found trailvoy and wants to fix it themselves.

That said, the blower fan problem will NOT ever give you bad idle and drivability problems. Just a Service Engine Soon light and a code.

Your idle problems are almost certainly caused by a dirty throttle body. Find the "how to" article under the "Articles" pull down menu, and read up. Easy, cheap, do it yourself fix.

Welcome! How many miles do you have? Are you on your original battery as well, or is that newer than the car?

..the dealer was the only one with the wiring diagrams...
Not quite true. Many of us bought factory shop manuals and we regularly trace signals down to the component level. We (mostly) don't have GM high-end scan tools. That's all.

Here's hoping you have one of those rare dealer experiences where you end up thinking you received good value for the money you're going to pay. Would love to get a report later, to add to our knowledge base.
