I have to ask : what makes you think there's suppose to be a glove box light ?

I just inspected our '04 XLT . There is nothing to indicate a light ever being there . Not even a wire for a connection .

Well I guess I just expected there to be a light. Every vehicle I have owned going back to a 71 Pinto had a glovebox light. It's crazy a 35,000 dollar GMC truck would neglect this trivial but convenient item. Thanks for your input pdcomm.

GMC is 'professional grade' . I guess professionals don't need glove box lights . LOL

These vehicles seem to be appointment-valued with all sorts of amenities that make them creature comfort friendly. Heated seats, front & rear HVAC, His n Her front HVAC, 6.1 Bose systems, and other delights... so why not a lighted glove box?

My medium-trim package 2000 Astro has a lighted glove box.
My 1989 Isuzu Amigo has a lighted glove box.
My 1986 Chevy K5 Blazer has a lighted glove box.
My 1956 Case VAC tractor.... doesn't however have a lighted glove box. Actually, it doesn't even have a glove box.

By process of making vehicles friendlier as model years dictate, why shouldn't my have a lighted glove box?

Well..... I just looked in the daylight.... no wires, no switch, no bulb sockets.... nada! SOMEBODY at GM goofed!

I'll file this under other things that are missing...... like a fuel filter. I guess that the EXTs don't get one of them either!

Truth be told..... I can live with that very easily .

Looking at how and where the glove box is when opened , a light would have to be mounted in/on the box to do any good . If it were mounted on the dash frame , little if any light would shine in the box .
