Hello everyone finally started on my system I installed the pioneer AVH-P4100DVD head unit with bluetooth and onstar/steeringwheel controls and now im to the part where i know nothing about XD

What type of subs should i get and amp/ do i need anything else to go with these to make sure that its legit.

Im looking to get 2-3 12's and plan on just having a regular box in the back nothing super custom or anything. I just want to be able to remove the box incase i need the cargo space

Also i want to get a set of tweeters in my A pillars just dont know what brands are good and give the best sound.

I plan on getting these installed by a professional just because i dont know anything about wiring up subs and amps.

So my budget is roughly around 1000$ for the subs and amp and tweeters if anyone would help point me in the right direction or help me with a set up that will sound good, and any suggestions for the box so i can relay to the dudes making it :D

are you going for loudness or sound quality? if you get a mutli channel amp you can power the sub and some nice aftermarket speakers
Well Im trying to have a good balance im thinking ill go for quality over loudness. I figure 2 12's will be pretty loud even if they are quality. : )

I almost always replace factory speakers. I agree, they don't sound bad but wait until you replace them with some quality aftermarket one's.

You'll be like :duh: why did I wait.
Well i guess since you say so ill do it :D So if you had 1000-1200$ to buy tweeters subs amp and speakers what would you spend them on? Thats kind of what im looking for :D

I have the same HU installed in my '03 TB.

The next step I took was to replace the stock speakers with after market units, I chose a matched pair of 6.5" Kenwoods and for now left the dash Tweeter in place. I am using the HU to power those speakers.

Next plan is to run the wiring for our Kenwood amp that we already have mounted on the back of our Dual 10" box. I found it loaded with MTX speakers from Crutchfield.

Costs:
HU: $410 Amazon
Door Speakers: $50 per pair, wiring adapters included Crutchfield
MTX 10" subs and Box: $225, Crutchfield
Kenwood Amp: $220, Sears
Amp Wiring: $100, Local stereo shop.

Replacing the door speakers was very easy, the Pioneer HU has a nice built in Mosfet PS that will work to keep cost down for now.

Take a look at some other folks installs to see the best way to keep the wiring clean, do yourself a favor, install it yourself, that way, if there is a problem, you have an idea how to fix it and not have to take it back to have the shop find the problem. Amp wiring can be very simple or very difficult depending on how many amps and what add on's you install.

You can also flush mount a remote USB cable and 1/8" stereo cable next to the aux power supplies for Ipod/MP3 use as well.

Best thing, the pride in knowing you did it yourself or with the help of a friend.

Thanks for the ideas man and everyone saying to do it myself is making me want to XD i might wait until my friend gets back though so ill have some help and another head incase something confuses me! I still may get my box custom made because i dont have the tools or anything to build one of those and make it sound good :D
