Allow me to introduce myself. 51 year old that camps and fishes NC outer Banks regularly. Owned various Chevy k1500 trucks over the last 20 years. Was just forced to sell my beloved 99 with only 112,000 miles on it. I know the 5.7 and its quirks inside and out. They are however getting a little long in the tooth. I doubt I will ever find another with that low of mileage that I could afford.

I have however discovered the rear wheel drive trailblazers, envoys, Saab 9-7, Bravado, etc to be much less expensive than a full-sized truck, which much the same towing capacity as my old 5.7l.

Question: will I be happy with a 4.2l or should I hold out for a 5.3l? I have a small utility trailer and will probably get a small camper (less than 4000 lbs) in the future.

I've located a Saab 9-7x in my area with 120000 miles for 4000.00 with a 5.3l but it's a little over my budget of sub 3000.00

Found a clean 2002 Trailblazer with 160k for 2800.00 with the 4.2
