My 07 Envoy with the 4.2l gets roughly 190 to 200 miles on a full tank before I have to fill up. I calculated this and my gas mileage is roughly 10 to 11 mpg. It’s winter and cold here in MN. Is this normal or is something wrong? I also have the 3.73 rear end with the G80 locking diff.

I suggest you look up the loooooads of threads on MPG.

You'll find information like how cold starting in the winter uses more fuel to warm up everything

Also depends on streets or highways.

I get like 8MPG on city streets, I have gotten around 15mpg on highways driving

02 Envoy with 4.2L, 3.42 gear and 4wd, I'm getting 15mpg regular town driving. I just got it a couple months ago and I won't be doing a actual highway trip for about another month. The vehicle has 190k on the clock

I also had a 04 Trailblazer with 4.2L, 3.73 and 2wd. I got around 15mpg around town driving and I saw about 20-21mpg on straight highway runs while loaded down with 3 kids and 2 adults along with luggage. That one had 290k on the clock and had cam/crank sensor issues in the end

forgot to mention I am an 04 envoy base model i6 3.42

i plan on replacing the 02 sensor for the first time soon and also a first time throttle body clean, I hope to improve it.

I idle for about 10 hours per tank of gas, so I might get higher than 8 MPG if I cut that out but I have no idea how much fuel our trucks use per hour of idle

I have a 2002 LTZ and get an average 13.5 MPG with the majority of stop and go driving I do on the daily. 26 miles round trip. I also have a brush guard installed out front and have a bit of a heavy foot on the open roads. Could most definitely have better economy if my driving habits changed.

2004 5.3L XL 3.73 171,000. 12-13 city, 16 ~ hwy. Normal is right around 300 miles to a tank (25gal) but on the hwy that pushes past 400 on longer trips. I've got a heavy foot also so that is occasional WOT when passing or when I want to. Guess I'm glad I got the V8 lol.
