Man died after ambulance detour

An emergency patient died after a paramedic diverted an ambulance because his shift had ended.

An investigation is under way after the incident in Stockton, Teesside, on 18 May, in which a 69-year-old man died.

Instead of taking the stroke victim to Stockton's North Tees Hospital, a paramedic drove to the town's ambulance station because his shift had over-run.

We all get pissed when a late call comes in, but it HAS to be expected. It drives me nuts when a crew has a crap attitude toward a Patient, just because they called at 6:50, and the shift ends at 7. It's part of the job, it happens, so deal with it.

seriously....these guys should get a new job.....

nobody likes the 650 call.....but we all know we're going to get it....you should never compromise patient care because you get off soon.

But, there's always two sides....

maybe he was told to go to the ambulance depot, maybe he really really had to go bad....

or maybe he got screwed so bad in past for the ot that he took it into hos own hands to show them what happens...

or...the dying patient gave me a **** load of cash so he could die....no one knows for sure...
