I have a 03 trailblazer EXT 4.2 l-6. Transmission worked good until I removed motor and transmission to install a new motor. After installing new motor and reinstalling the transmission I pulled out. I refilled with new fluid. it won't shift past second gear. Any ideas what it could be?

Sorry I'm just now responding I've been working. When I first crank it and start driving it shift fine after it warms up it starts slipping out of third gear. Haven't had a chance to check codes yet but I will do today since I am off work
