Transmission is hitting constantly

I have an 08 trailblazer bone stock. While driving around 45 miles per hour. So I'm thinking shifting into the third, it s**** really rough and hits about every 2 to 3 seconds until I get above 50 mph or I'll let off and go below about 40. I don't know much about transmissions but I was thinking it could be a torque converter. I was hoping to reach out and get some advice. Thanks in advance

What does the shift "hit"?
I think what he means is the transmission is hesitating between gears. It's holding a little longer to shift and then BOOM it's in the next gear.

I think he's more correct in his assessment, and the way he said it is fitting (if not: a neophyte's statement) of a sprague failure in the convertor.

It's kinda hitting and catching on the sprague and then the sprague loses hookup and .... well ... it's like a slow motion chatter.

You HAVE sent some mixed perception though .....

You make a mistake in this part: "While driving around 45 miles per hour...... "

..... in that you didn't state a succinct observation .......
1. while cruising at 45 MPH, no hills or headwinds ...
2. accelerating up to 65MPH and AT 45MPH you feel this problem ...
3. you mistake a TCC application (which normally occurs @45MPH) as a shift ....

If you came into my shop, we'd talk a lot more before I would even roadtest your vehicle.

Customers CAN tell you a lot, but they don't really speak the lingo and they have to be coaxed into telling what they "feel" more than what they don't know and can't even start to divulge.
BTW -----> failure to communicate via the interweb is more likely to happen than during an in person meeting.

I cannot feel a sideways glimpse nor detect a "tell" from a customer in a text message.
You know, while we are on the topic of customers conversing with professionals - I think the customer is more likely to stay with one who communicates well over one with a great resume. I find this to be true with doctors. You want a doctor who can comfort you vs a doctor who memorized all his texts at school

Sadly - you left the part out where the customer sheepishly finally admits that he tried to fix it first.

I think waterboarding of some customers was necessary. It all revolves around firtive eyeblinks and saliva dripping out of one corner of their mouth.

MOSTLY -- a mechanic doesn't have time to extract the truth out of some people and that's best left to a service writer. Unfortunately, most service writers don't know much more than where the key goes and how to adjust the seat and the radio.

Maybe a deadpan totally ignorant service writer is a good ideaq --- it takes the heat off them as they just blink at the customer like an Emu --- and the mechanic is left to interpolate the service writer's work order.

Dumb service writers lose their quiet mystery if they accidentally ask if the customer wants to Super Size their order.

It's a lose-lose thingy I think ... especially over the internet.

Answering questions here - as any other DIY-help site, is rife with attitudes of "I told you what doesn't work and I already put $6000.00 of parts in it and now fix it!" mentalities.

Sometimes I want to haul people in through my optical drive and give them a good whacking.

And yes, everyone was correct that trying to type the problem is definitely harder than saying it to someone.

To the one person who had three questions that didn't matter to my issue, you're definitely not a person who can communicate with normal people

.... and what part of my 3 questions were you opposed to? Communication ... accurate communication when you are asked specific questions, is primary.

Too bad you had such an attitude in school .......... or was that a school where everyone got an award "For Trying, or Not"?

Just showing up and being able to communicate are not the same things. I'm not gonna kiss your boo-boo.
