Car sat for a year, went to check the transmission fluid levels. The transmission fluid dip stick won't come out. Plastic lever lifted up to unlock, pulled up as hard as possible. Won't budge. Also tried pulling out with pliars. Looking for what the next step is, I believe the transmission fluid is low from sitting, need to get this dip stick out to check and add fluid.

Any tips or tricks on getting this thing out would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Gently twist dipstick handle. Rubber plug must be stuck to inside of tube. Once dipstick comes out, wipe some ATF on the rubber plug of the 'stick.

Another way is to remove the whole assembly at the transmission end. After removal pour some trans fluid in the tube to loosen up the hold on it after soaking a bit. If you break it Rockauto has a dorman replacement. This way you dont drop debris into the trans if you break off pieces while trying to break it loose. :)
