I have an '06, I6 with 17K miles. I got the truck in July 06, so it's 2.5 years old now, should I change the tranny fluid at this time, and what do they change, is it a few quarts and filter like sedans.....

Thanks

Unless you have realy been thrashing it or a lot of towing, you can wait untill the 50K it calls for in the owners manual.:m2:

I on the other hand, never like to stretch it out to the max. I like fresh fluids to achieve maximum lubrication and protection.

The complete fluid/filter change is the best way to go. :m2:

Dealership charges about $200.00 and I did mine for about $50-$60.

If you are just dropping the pan and replacing the filter you will need 4-5 quarts. If you are flushing the entire system it would need about 12 quarts. In my opinion it is never too soon for fresh fluid in our 4l60e trannies. At 17k and 2.5 years I would do a pan drop and filter change and then repeat every 20k miles or so.
