SS with Moonroof AND rear DVD....

Even though we cannot order an SS with both the moonroof package and the rear-entertainment package, there is (are) vehicles in existence with this combo.

I was at the GM-VEC (Vehicle Engineering Center, Warren MI) today for one of my weekly meetings. There is a non-saleable white SS on display in the lobby (was built 5/05). Since I had some time to kill, I plopped in the rear seat...only to see that it was equipped with both the moonroof and the rear-entertainment system (with a unique headliner that had both the appropriate bulge for the moonroof, and a "bubble" for the DVD).

I noticed this because this would have been the way I would have ordered my SS, having 2 kids under the age of 3. BUT, as I said above, GM-ordering allows for one or the other, but not both.

Ah well, idle comments for tonite, I suppose. Would have been nice to have this ordering option.

Starting with '06, you can have a Sun roof and the DVD player.

Hmmm... I don't think so. Unless someone here actually has both the sunroof and rear DVD. (maybe you?) :undecided

My GMS Pricing Schedule is current as of 10/14/05 for the '06MY. Option U42 says: Rear-seat entertainment system (replaces sunroof).

I don't mind if I'm wrong, but my data says the two can't be ordered together.

Starting with the '06 model you could get both. Go on the Chevy.com site and build one. You can build it with both.

 It'll cost you an extra $1000 :raspberry Isn't it cheaper to get a universal DVD system and install it yourself?

If you have the Sun Sound Package that includes the sun roof, DVD only costs $495.

Yea, it is a new thing for 06 to be able to have both. I know that if you get the DVD only, it has more controlls on the unit itself and is a little bigger, but if you get both most of the controlls are on the remote only and it is a slimmer player. I see that GM finally got it right and asked Panasonic (thats the brand I saw in the 06 that I drove) to make the DVD players, as the delphi ones sucked. I looked at getting one in 02, but the dealer (yea, the dealer!!!) told me that they were getting 95% of them back within 4 weeks to be replaced because the units were failing. I bought a 9" TV/VCR combo and use my XBOX as the DVD player in the back.

Yea, that's what I am planning on doing... Save myself $500 (or more) and pick up a dual 9" LCD portable DVD for the backseat kids.

That's a good idea. That way they kids each have one. Are you gonna get the detachable ones or the ones that get fixed into the headrests?

I don't believe this is true. You get the discount on the sunroof but if you add the DVD player you have to pay full price for it since you are already getting the dicount on the sunroof.

You can go to build a Envoy/Trailblazer at their websites and you click the sun/sound package. Then you go down and click the regular sunroof option (it will cost you $0) and then go back up and click the DVD player option...you'll see they charge you the $1,200 or however much it is.
