Ok, I am using a tablet and the search is not working and I have a question. My question is has anyone done an ss motor and ecu swap into an 6cly envoy? is this reasonable, I know I should just get an ss but I have the money for a clean swap and it would be fun to be the first. Again, this is not pie in the sky thinking. I joke that I have more money the sence, but this could be fun. Please no flaming I would like some "guru" help.

I am considering putting the 5.7L LS1 into a 2002 Trailblazer 4WD, 6cyl SUV. Has anyone done this or heard of one? I know the extended newer versions come with the 4.8 V8, so I am hoping I can bolt it in with minimal problems.
The newer versions actually come with a 5.3 v8. Some of the older ext trailblazers and envoy also have it. im not aware of any TBs with a 4.8, but correct me if im wrong. The ss actually comes with a 6.0 v8, so your 5.7 ls1 should fit without too much difficulty.

I was really hoping there would be more pages to this thread. I have a 2002 EXT LT with the I6. The truck is in great shape. I bought it from the original owner. It hasn't seen any of our MI winters.

I was wondering what it would take to swap a V8 in, as well, and how (un)common it is.

The I6 and 5.3/6.0 trailblazer have different frames. There is a "v8" frame and the I6 frame. I believe the I6 being a straight is longer so it sits back a bit and has different mounts probably. The 5.3 and I6 do use the same 4L60E trans but the SS has the 4L70E trans to handle the higher torque the LS2 engine is putting out. I'd say it would be a pile of work IMO i'd find a 5.3/SS and do that. I have a 5.3 in the short wheel base version and it is awesome. I've have the I6 as well with the 3.42 and it was nice but not near the torque as the 5.3 and 3.73 feels like a different truck altogether
