So I was wondering about the smoked headlight casing. Is it worth getting? Or can you not see at night? Because I really like the way it looks. But I don’t want to compromise that for the safety? Would it be fine if I just used some LEDS under? So if anyone has some after smoked headlights I really wanna know your thoughts. Thanks!

Well ---- they're dark so they're illegal.

Case dismissed.

If your car came into MY shop, I'd red-flag it and the CHP would seize it and turn it into rebar.

I also wasn’t asking about the legality of the headlights. I already know that they aren’t legal. Minnesota is not as bad as California about this stuff. So I don’t foresee my car being seized. I was asking if you were able to see, because I don’t want to compromise safety.

Even if you have carbon arc lights in them - they still obscure.

It's not about YOU seeing - it's about other drivers seeing YOU.

Just play the game with good rules and stop poking the bear (cops).

That’s true I didn’t think about it that way. Thanks for your feedback.

I think that’s a little harsh. They can’t just take my car and turn it into rebar.
Yeah --- they can. I used to do it all the when I was a Brake/Lamp/Smog inspection station.

An illegal (flagged) car is escorted into my shop by the Highway Patrol, for me to inspect .......
..... then the owner signs it away 'cause it's modified/missing or disconnected (classified as: MMD) .......
...... and it's not like it was when it left the dealership.....
...... even if it's from another state .......
...... then I send it to run through a hammermill .......
..... because it's a FEDERAL LAW
Easy.

Try Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Washington, most of Oregon ..... any Democrat state really. Right now even Montana is arresting/fining shops and owners for vehicles that get "deleted" ... and they are grabbing the customer lists to go after vehicle owners for paying to have it done.

Roll the dice .....

I never understood why anyone would want to make headlights less effective. I turn my headlights on for the obvious reason - to see. They're crappy enough, why degrade their effectiveness?

I'lI try to answer your question without all of the drama...I just installed exactly what your asking about a couple weeks ago and have avoided jail time and the crusher so far. Because a simple question was arm chair policed I'll let you know that I live in Dem ran Sh#tcago and getting car-jacked is a bit more important than aftermarket headlights. Trailblazers have smoked taillights from the factory... now the fronts match. I will state the obvious which is the light emitted will darken a bit, but I'm not regretting the purchase. I guess it all depends on how much you drive at night. As you can see they have LED'S that run up the side and I have a bull bar w/fog light.

Are those headlights on ? Doesn't look like it .
Did you add three lights to make up for shading your headlights ?
And , why block out your license plate ?

I thought this forum was to help with TB and Envoy enthusiasts? I'm giving opinion to original post, having just done the exact thing this person is thinking of doing. I thought I would chime in with a legit answer and hope for a group hug. I hope my post helps with his/hers decision.

Now I'll answer your questions.

Headlights on? Answer - Nope

Did you add three lights to make up for "slading" your headlights ? Answer - It must be my age because I had to look that up. I added nothing to the lights and would love if you can give me a better definition of the word... Swipe left, swipe right, push someone over with one short leg??? I'm not sure how this becomes a question about smoked headlights???

And , why block out your license plate ? Answer - It's not blocked... It looks that way every day
Thanks

PS...your avatar looks kind of blurry.

Sorry for any confusion .

Slading was supposed to have been shading . A typo that is now corrected , thanks to you . ;)

My avatar is blurry . The original image was much bigger and it lost something when shrunk .
