My sons 2005 Chevy Trailblazer is leaking water, or what I believe is water. When I open the hood and look at the left side there are two silver wrapped hoses going in to the firewall. To the right is a tube, this is the source of the water. My first thought is this is the AC drain but wanted to confirm my thought.

It is dripping or was dripping out of the small tube next to the silver wrapped hoses. It would drip on the frame and then the ground.

On the subject of the AC drain, it's a good idea to periodically clean that out with a stick, screwdriver or something similar. They can get plugged up, and the water still has to go somewhere.... like all over the carpet. Don't ask how I learned this lesson.

from your description, its a rubber hose that goes to the firewall.

if its not leaking inside the cabin and does drain on to the ground then it sounds like its fine.

So is the suppose to be connected or is its purpose to drain like it has been?
It's supposed to just drain on the ground. If you don't like it hitting the frame, you can slide a piece of hose over it and route it differently, but it won't harm anything as it is.
