Unfortunatly I've been pulled over quite a few times recently. The police have been pulling over vehicles with roof racks, thinking that every vehicle equipted with one is a teenager that is up to no good. I can't afford to get any more points on my license and can't deal with being pulled over all the time. The lights, roof rack, spare tire, and the CB antenna have all been removed. So for the time being I am going to keep the roof rack in the basement. The lift is staying on. I also have a little repair work on the front bumper.. had a neighbor brake check me in the middle of an intersection. It didnt do anything to my bumper except scratch it a little it (( OMG a SCRATCH)) Haha But the same can't be said for his little ricer. I hardly tapped him and it split the heck out of that rear bumper. Oh well. All I have to do for my bumper is spray paint it again.

I've got to say the TB looks naked now.
I'll post some pics.. once I find my camera. I think I left it at my friend's house :duh:

are those things illegal down there? (joke) Or are you thinking that they give you a ticket more quickly if you've got them, and they think you're up to no good?

Having said that, when my CBR1100XX was stock, I always noticed the cops staring at me as I went by... Since I put the higher windscreen and hard luggage on it (run just the top case, daily), I can be going 10-15 over, and they don't give me a second look, even when they're running speed traps...

I've got a disconnect here. Why would a roof rack be an indicator of trouble-seeking teenagers? Just curious  :weird:

I guess I would be in real trouble with my expedition set up :D  :D
- roof rack
- 6 lights
- spare tire
- axe/shovel
- awning
- 2 gas cans
- 2 surplus 50mm ammo cans (powder coated orange)
- 1 surplus mortal shell can (powder coated orange)

Actually, when I took my trip to Utah, the border guard did ask me why I had 2 spare tires (roof and hitch mount). I explained my intended activities and he understood.

I also don't get how a roof rack spells a trouble making teenager, with every suv made has one. they'd have to pull over thousands of truck's daily.......:weird:
Not the stock roof rack, but a roof basket...

lol i don't think you guys understand the south; lifted truck with lights and tire on roof = teenager and can just draw the eye of the cop
thats just plain stupid to me, why? has there been a rash of robbery's by guys in lifted trucks or something. there has to be a reason for this, I would think guys with donk's or modded ricers would be more of a target then lifted truck. so now that the rack is gone, he's less likely to get pulled over?

Well it made the vehicle stand out more, which in some ways was good.. getting compliments on it, hot girls smiling at me and stuff. But a local police department targets 2 "types" of people- Teenagers and soccer moms. I of course don't quite fit the soccer mom profile.

Alot of teens lift their jeeps, slap on some mud terrains and a cb..
I guess the police thought of my truck as one of those. I'm going to be 20 next month so neither of those profiles will fit me. I have 3 points on my license right now, If I get another point my license will be suspended.

By no means am I going to give up taking the TB to the mountains and all around on and offroad (just not the deep mud holes)

Now the TB looks kinda like an FBI suv, or VIP escort vehicle.. minus the tint. I've even got the M15A4 laying in the back seat :D No worries it's airsoft but it's wicked.

I'm not planning on selling anything yet. I may mount the rear lights from the rack in my bumper so it looks like stock fog lights.

I even have multiple "thin red line" reflective decals on the back of my truck- one being just left of the license plate. I also have a Maltese cross smack dab in the middle of the rear windshield. I was going to go into firefighting but I ran into some anxiety issues in that job. I always wave to the local cops.. I don't know I guess its just the whole "high profile vehicle" that makes me stick out like a sore thumb.

But just LOOKING at you won't result in a ticket unless you've got something to write up? Are you saying their radar is attracted to your profile? Are these speeding tickets, or equipment violations?

If they're for speed, and you didn't slow down after the first one, you really have nothing to bitch about. Your behavior is being targeted, not your vehicle.

Am I missing something? What are your points for?

I got pulled over for supossibly going 67 in a 45 zone. The officer was no where in sight and I asked to see the radar/lidar unit to confirm the speed and he stated that he "paced me" meaning that he matched his car to my speed. The thing was he was way behind me and he floored his little impala. There is no way I was going 67 in a 45.. perhaps 55 max. The officer could have easily picked a speed at which he thought was how fast I was going- when he was actually going way faster than I was just trying to get up to me. I should have gone to court and contested it, however I was about to start EMT school and was already anxious about that. So I ended up paying the fine.. $420 ! Oh.. I failed to mention that I had my offroad lights on and I wasnt aware of it because the light on the switch stopped working- which I even showed the officer. He still wrote me a headlight violation. then when I went to pay it the court clerk was like so did you not have your headlights on or something? I responded with no.. I had too many lights on.
That incident got me 3 points on my license.

My most recent run in with the law was on my way home from my friend's house I decided to stop and fill up with gas. So I did so and pulled out of the gas station and headed right towards where I live. I was about to turn into another jurisdiction (Alpharetta) When I signaled a right hand turn I was lit up. The officer had been riding my @$$ (running my tag) for a while and I had been looking back in the mirror at him trying to see what was going on before he stopped me. So I pulled well off of the road - for the officer's safety. As he approached my vehicle I said good evening officer, is there a problem? I also let him know right then and there that there was a pellet gun in the very back of my vehicle which he appreciated me telling him about. He stated that he stopped me because I had been weaving in my own lane, he thought I might have been a drunk. I told him that I was simply tired and was on my way home from a friend's house and stopped to refuel. I then gave him my license and he returned to his car and ran me through the system. He then stepped back out of his car (by this time there were 3 other police cars behind me. He asked me to go ahead and turn my car off and place my keys on the dashboard. I complied and he asked me to step out of the vehicle and walk towards the front of his car- I complied again. He then told me to place my hands behind my back- I did so and asked why I was being arrested. He said for driving under a suspended license. I started telling him about the mistake that the dmv had made by accidently putting 4 points on my license instead of the correct number of 3 points. I told him that my truck had been flooded the week before and that I had taken the papers out of my truck and they were at my house (5 minute drive from where I was stopped) He stated that "this was pretty much a bench warrent for my arrest" and he couldn't take me to get the papers. So I spent the night in jail.. luckily it was a thursday night and it was slow-- had the holding cell to myself. The next morning my finger prints are still being processed by the FBI .. The FBI approved me to purchase 2 firearms at the age of 18 and approved it in less than 5 minutes. So as Im waiting to get out (my dad had the money for bail and was waiting for hours in the front part of the jail lobby) The Judge called the jail and told them to "Release that man immediently" and that I was wrongfully arrested and it was a huge mistake. So they let me out and we didnt have to pay a thing.. until it came to getting my truck back from the impound lot 100 dollars later and the TB was back in my driveway.
All charges were dropped and the arrest is being removed from my history.

so pretty much my mom and dad were telling me over and over again that the roof rack and lights had to come off of the TB.. because it was just screaming out "theres a teenage driver" So I removed it yesterday. Honestly my truck seems naked without it. Hopefully one day I'll be allowed to put everything back on.

This concludes the life story of Brandon's police encounters. :dielaugh:

I have to agree with roadie here, if your license and insurance are in order. even though you have points, you are not doing anything wrong. why change your truck? being a dark skinned person..:D...I get my plates ran all the time. riding in a nice truck does draw allot of attention from the PD but I laugh (once I roll my tint down)..;)...because I know everything is in order and I haven't done anything wrong, they run the plates and move on. we all do thing's when we're young, it sounds like you want to blend in, so your not caught at anything to me. no offense just my :m2:

If only you weren't speeding, even 55 in a 45. If only you weren't weaving. If only you didn't blast through the water and flood the truck. If only you weren't a teenager. :duh:

Even in stealth mode, are you certain you can control your driving accuracy and improve your judgment so they won't notice you? Your recent experiences just aren't statistically probable unless you're contributing to them targeting you.

And people wonder why I CRINGE when I read intro threads about 16 year olds being given trailvoys. :weird:
