I was sitting in traffic the other day when all of the sudden my reduced power light came on....i now cant move faster then 10-15 mph...the code reader says its a TAC problem...in the last week ive changed the thermostat and alternator unrelated to this problem but they were changed after the problem started...ive also changed the throttle body and gas pedal and still have the problem...this isnt an intermittent problem like most people seem to be having the REP light has been on for the better part of the week leaving my truck undrivable...any input on this would be greatly appreciated...its driving me crazy...also i dont think this could cause the issue but about a week before this started to happen i had a cylinder 2 misfire any one know if for some reason a misfire could make the vehicle go into reduced power mode?
Thanks :bonk:

The reduced power mode is usually caused by either throttle body or accelerator pedal issues. Since you have already replaced those, I would look into the 5V reference voltage that is used by those assemblies as well as the fan clutch. Sometimes the fan clutch wire harness gets abraded at the radiator and shorts out the 5v reference.

Your starting issue could be ignition switch, starter relay or starter.

Thanks I will check that out...I also found a pigtail with a broken wire today...it looks to be coming out of one of the harnesses that run to the ECM and runs somewhere farther down in the engine compartment...it's an 8 wire pigtail...any ideas what it's for?

Update...SOLVED

:tiphat So I ended up having to send the car to a local shop...ended up being a wire broken in between the fuse box and the pcm...cost a decent chunk to fix but not as much as some others have had to pay to a dealer for nothing...my advice if you have this issue and its not a mechanical part it to eiter start digging through wires yourself and checking voltage or take it to someone whos good with wiring...apparently they tracked down my wire by checking the voltage at the TAC fuse under the hood which was fine then checking the voltage at the pcm where they found it wasnt ok...had to remove the fuse box to find the wire but she's fixed and im happy...hope this helps someone else find their problem...

Good that the problem was resolved.

Personally, I will not give out any advise (with 35 years Chevy only experience), without knowing, for certain, that my advise will fix the problem.

With electrical problems, solutions are not always what one would expect.

I thought you were about to say, " I'm not going to give out advice because I had to figure it out on my own. GD millennials are too lazy, I swear!

Hrmph!

I guess one would be upset if one were actually a Millennial - which I don't think you are 'cause you know how to use the quotation marks --- wait --- lemme take that back ... you do NOT know how to close the quotation.

My bad.

And then you reply by using all those hyphens and periods. Grammar Nazi lol
That's called "style" or "artistic license" not bad English Composition Standards.

Ever read Suzuki Bean or Archie & Mehatible or H*Y*M*A*N K*A*P*L*A*N?
There's LOTS of artistic License there!
