.... eating lunch and then out to measure things for you.
No rush, big handsome. I'm finishing up work in about an hour and have an hour and half commute (maybe longer because it's been snowing all day) ahead of me and I'm following up on a possible lead on a 25 year old male skeleton. I appreciate you.

.... uhmmmm ... I sliced a finger wide open ... to the bone and i just got back from ER.

I was gonna tell you I did it measuring the rubber seal .... but that's a lie. If you're not upset too badly, I'll get out in the morning and get your measurements.
Absolutely not. I can remove the old seal and measure it. You're supposed to stop cutting the steak when you feel it cutting your finger. Either way, go relax that finger.

The saddest part is that I am on a speaking program tonight where bleeding is not an authorized effect. Then this weekend, I better be healed up enuff to play my 12 string in a talent show.

It looks bad for both.
That does suck and sounds like it will continue to suck for some time.

That's what I'm hoping. Or at least measurements so I can get the right aftermarket stuff.

I'm tempted to remove the seal and see what it looks like underneath and how it attaches.

Apparently, 15172768 is the new part number.
under this number not the newer one there is some on the auction site.
supposed to be for 02 to 04 only

Good morning,

I noticed this morning some water drops on the rear shade in the cargo area (I keep mine closed to cover what's in the back). With all the rain in my area the last few days, I'm thankful it was only a few drops. I narrowed it down to the seal that goes around the liftgate glass. It's not as squishy as it should be and it's very clear where it is leaking from. I can now also hear the rear window rattle somewhat over bumps.

Does anyone have leads on a replacement seal? Or can I get some of the aftermarket stuff from AutoZone and double up or replace the current one?

Also, is there no seal around the CHMSL itself? I can see out looking at it from inside and there's definitely a gap.

Thank you.
I had a 2003 GMC Envoy that did the same thing, plus was getting some exhaust fumes as well. I used some self adhesive weather strip from Home Depot all along the top of the existing OEM seal. It stopped the leak and the fumes. But honestly, not sure how well it would stand up to repeated openings........I really hardly ever opened the glass hatch, always found it easier just to open the full hatch. Hope this helps....

Now the liftgate lock sounds like a machine gun for a few seconds when I lock the door. I'm assuming (read: hoping) the actuator itself has gone bad and it's not something elsewhere in that area. Everything locks and unlocks as it should so I can only guess.
