My right rear wheel just started making a very loud screech. Could it be the wheel bearing. If so is it common at only 40M miles? How is this bearing typically lubed -grease fitting or differential oil? Is it a difficult or expensive repair?

Check the brakes and backing plate first. Could be something sticking on that caliper or a bad or sticking parking brake shoe. Backing plate could be touching the rotor causing a squeak.
