My rear liftgate stays locked and wont open unless i manually open up the plug on the inside and flip the switch. the dealers telling me the part to replace it will cost roughly $300. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they dealth with it. also wondering if it is something as simple as a blown fuse or something, because in my opinion, the 'actuator' is not broken. any help is appreciated.

nope, it still functions. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. that leaves me to believe its just a fuse acting up. certainly not a 300$ repair.

Fuses are much less likely to "act up" than a mechanical solenoid and parts that have been reported to corrode and freeze up. Members have reported success by getting at the parts, cleaning them up, and spraying with penetrating oil. I don't live in a corrosive area, so I never had to do it myself, but I remember a lot of posts (findable in a search) where a mechanic visit wasn't required.
