I have come to the conclusion that the washer fluid line has been disconnected somewhere in the lift gate. I tried to remove the handle and then the panel, but the screw has some crazy head on it. Does anybody know what tool I need to get this off? I would prefer not to look like a fool going in and out of the hardware store looking for the right screwdriver.

Any other surprises I may have in store for me during this project?

That is probably a Torx screw. Kind of looks like this *? Usually around a #10 or #15 bit. You can get a set with an inter-changeable handle for less than $10. They also sell sets for a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchets.

The one in my 04 was a torx #27. The washer fluid line was just undone at the junction behind the wiper motor. I went ahead an taped it up so it shouldn't vibrate loose again.

Note to others who may search this thread: There is a plastic bolt near the latch for the glass that must come out before you can remove the panel.
