i was lookin at a few sites and peoples profiles and i see that the stock head unit on some rainiers plays dvds is this true??? its dvd/navi/so it only plays in park i awsume? just intersted thx biggie
well i know that mine does not; i have the non-touchscreen verson of the nav and when you first start the truck it says "DVD Check in Progress" but it is just checking the CD; i believe that there is a module you can buy to get a DVD to play but i think you have to have the touch screen version for that; I know that George (justblazn) had something hooked up somehow when he had his Rainier to get DVD's to play but not should how he did it but I believe he upgraded to the touchscreen version
You don't need the touchscreen to work, but you will need an external DVD Player or overhead DVD. IIRC I paid $200.00 for my adapter off Ebay.. IT is a straight install. You just need to find a location for the switch. The switch allows you to change from NAV to Video. The best part is everything still works.. Voice Prompts from NAV, XM, IPOD adapter if you have one. You need 1 A/V Cable and it rerquires you to take apart your radio to hook up the connectors.
