I need some professional help about hooking up my alpine 10" DVC (4ohm) sub to a Kenwood KAC-8104D amp. I'm confused because this is the amp I might by however I can't figure out why it has 2 woofer connection terminals. I want to hook my sub using 1 speaker wire at 2 ohms amp load. I see other amps have just one speaker terminal. Can you tell me what the difference is and how would I connect my sub if the amp has 2 seperate terminals. :undecided

Thanks :)

the outputs positives and negatives are internally bridged for an easier connection when hooking up 2 coils

just wire both 4 ohm coils in the enclosure, and have 1 lead form the amp go to it

fyi my RF Power amps are setup the same way
the link below is the owners manual for the amp. look at page 4 for the wiring setup. hope this answers your question

So if I understand correctly I just have to wire 1 wire +/- to the amp that will be wire to a 2 ohm load and this will give me the full power?

Why do the create mono amps with 2 sets of speaker terminals? Is that so you can hook up each coil on the sub ( like a 2ohm DVC sub) to each terminal?

yes....keep in mind you will have to parallel the coils inside the enclosure to get that 2 ohm load

yup....I use 8 gauge wire for my subs, and it would be tough to cram 2 leads into one terminal
Thanks for your help. Cheers :)

Thanks man, it sure took along time. But it turned out pretty nice and tight. I can hardly wait to get an amp hooked up to it. I'm itching to hear it. I'm pickin up an Alpine MRP-M500 from a guy tomorrow. So it should be real soon. chow for now.
