(A newbie - Sorry if this topic was covered earlier.)

My Chevy dealer says the steering shaft that connects directly to the steering wheel is no longer stocked by GM: parts not available.
(The secondary steering shaft and lower steering gear are fine.)
Is there any source for new old stock for this part, or has anyone found a solution?
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!

If the part number for the upper shaft you speak of is 19133768, then there is a vendor on the Amazon.com website that has 5 of them selling for $154.96 with free shipping.

Here is the link:

Good Luck!

HOW do you know that the shaft is the problem?

"Play" at the steering wheel would more likely be wiped-out tie rod ends, maybe failing ball joints. Perhaps rack bushings or a sloppy rack 'n' pinion.

Rack and pinion is a stretch. If you've had the car for 80,000 or more I'd check your tierods
