This might sound silly. I need to get a puller for the tie rods and ball joints, and am going to be changing my front shocks this weekend. I know I will need a pitman arm puller.

I assume they come in different sizes, but I have only seen one size in the auto parts store. If they do come in different sizes, what size will be required for the above work to be done?

Thanks.

I used the pitman arm puller from auto zone they work great. There have two sizes one large one and a smaller one says it's for small import cars. But would fit I bet. If not a little filling on the fingers and good to go. I used the larger one but it almost seams a tad too big on the fingers it does work though. Hope that helps...

A 2 1/2 lb hammer will do the same job. You dont need a puller to do tierod ends and ball joints. If you really wanted it, the right tool for the job is a ball joint press/clamp. http://oemproamtools.com/auto/bjss.htm
They can usually be found for less then $100 and are really handy on some light truck ball joints like Fords and 3/4 + Ton Dodges.
But again, a few well placed hammer blows will do the trick.
