Here it is, a comprehensive, easier to use and easier to update frequently requested parts catalog!

My goal was to provide an easier to use and update parts list for the community. All entries in the existing parts list have been copied, and some of them were revised for consistency, and the entire list has been reorganized (subject to change). It will eventually include links to pictures for each part. I also wanted to have a way to get updates for the catalog via community feedback in this thread (mods please move if necessary and sticky where appropriate).

It is in an Excel format for 1997-2003, so that more people can view it. Therefore, you will need Excel from Office 97 or later. I will eventually work out a way to publish it in html or in pdf so that the file does not need to be downloaded, but viewed in the web browser.

Here it is:
http://www.freewebs.com/nightworks/trailvoy/partscatalog.xls

Feedback
Everyone's feedback is appreciated and of course will help overall improvement.

- Let me know if you have problems viewing the file.
- If you found an error (p/n, part description, etc), let me know.
- If you have a submission to add, please post it here. If you can post an image or a hyperlink to an appropriate image, please do so to make things simpler.
- Entries without part numbers mean the part should be listed but no number has been added yet, feel free to post if you have the part number to fill in the blanks.

Updates
Since the file is located on a webhost, I will be able to update it as frequently as needed (so long as I'm available to do so). The log will be dated/timestamped each time I update it to avoid confusion of changes. There is a second sheet in the file titled "DevLogDet" which will contain a relatively detailed log of each update. Since this is relatively new project so far, various changes in layout and organization should occur until an efficient, easy to use format is used.

Again here is the link;
http://www.freewebs.com/nightworks/trailvoy/partscatalog.xls

Please keep the thread on topic (feedback, error reports and submissions only). In addition to log entries in the file, I will probably announce in this thread when a noteworthy update is made.

Enjoy!

Great idea. It looks good. Is there a way to put the part titles in alphabetical order? It would make it easier to find the parts. Here's some more numbers for you

15213549 LT front air dam (spoiler)
15787493 bracket, left, fascia mounting at front wheel opening
15787494 bracket, right, fascia mounting at front wheel opening

Found out these were different when I instaled a LT fascia on my LS.

At the bottom of the page on the left side there are 2 tabs. Click on the one that says "Parts Catalog" and it will open the other tab.

Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until it's in PDF form to view it.

But, if you need some help taking various pics, let me know. I've taken quite a few already, and don't mind taking more. I've got a 7.0 MP camera, so quality is there.

Initital issue solutions

Thank you all for the feedback so far, I am in the process of verifying suggested information via PMs with the members who suggested them.

Just a few notes on some issues that have arisen already;

*I believe the file will automatically open in whatever sheet it was last viewed, I will try to upload them after I view the catalog so that it shows up first.

*For members who do not have Excel, please visit http://docs.google.com. Google Docs is a web-based application that lets you view .doc, .xls, and other file formats that require special software. It's gotten me out of a few twists when I was at a computer without a program that could open MS Word files (.docs). Anyway, I just tried to view the catalog using Google Docs and it worked. So if you have a Google account, visit http://docs.google.com, sign in or register, and when you get to the main page of the application, click "Upload File" and copy/paste the catalog's URL into it. That's all there is to it.

Guys, I am all for something new. But, we already have a parts catalogue on this site.
It's under "Resources", top menu bar. It's easy to access and we don't need to start a new URL and we can use it without Microsoft office.:undecided

Hey Guys

I run linux for my OS. I use Open Source software called "Open Office". I believe they have it for Windows operating systems now and it is FREE and legal.

It opens the spreadsheet and looks almost exactly like Excel. I will keep an updated copy on my laptop at all times now.

:iagree: We run Open Office at home on our laptop through Windows Vista. The toolbar is a little different, especially if you are used to the new version of Microsoft Office, but it works EXACTLY the same. There was no way I was paying $400 for Office when my laptop was only $650.

Open Office ROCKS!!!

You can get it for free at http://www.openoffice.org. I think that's where I got it.

In searching the Internet, I found a GM parts online supplier with the GM Parts Breakdown drawings that the GM dealers use. Simply click on the area of the vehicle you're interested in until you get to your part. Click on the part and you get a GM part number and a price. I haven't order anything from them yet, but will try it soon.

Fantastic! Been looking for a parts site that didn't conceal the part numbers for YEARS! Thanks.
My pleasure Roadie. I stumbled upon it when I was looking for the z71 springs. I put the GM part number in the browser search bar and came up with a hit to CompNine. The actual hit was for the Buick Rainier, but at least I found a suitable site. Here is a link that goes directly to the 2005 Trailblazer LS 4WD. I saved this as a Favorite Place in my browser. It simplifies getting to the web site immensely.

http://www.compnine.com/index.php?s=1&catcode=56S&year=2005&modelcode=T&modelid=7156&makecode=LC

I had a suggestion for simplifying the search for parts and, believe it or not, got a reply from them the within a few hours. I will be placing an order for some minor parts in the next few days. I'll let you know how it goes. Regardlesss of their service, just having the part numbers and the drawings is a big plus.:woot:

Here is their reply. My suggestion follows.

Hi Mr. Ewing,

Based on your suggestion we have started work on a search feature. Adding a search feature that simply displays the description and price is relatively easy, but we would like to add the ability to see the exploded diagram along with it. Since a given part number may be associated with literally thousands of images depending on the vehicles it fits, it may be a bit more of a project to complete that end of it.

However, the general search function should be ready this weekend so be sure to check back with us.

Thanks for the suggestion, let us know if you have any others or you have troubles at all with the site.

Best regards,

Jason Humphrey

Your site is great. However, a search feature would make it even better. Perhaps search by part description, part number or key words.

i have an idea to expand on the OP's....
that is to include part numbers and manufacturers of aftermarket items, like mufflers, intakes, exhaust tips, etc.

some web sites do not have our vehicle in their "vehicle selectors" or " applications" database, yet there are people here who have those items. i think it would help out everyone and help future members. i'm looking at getting a new muffler, but dynomax's, flowmaster's and magnaflow's sites are not helpful.

Part number for rear HVAC control module

Would you happen to have the part number for the rear HVAC control module? It is located in the rear of the console for the back (middle) seat passengers in XL models with the rear AC unit. It has both Heat/AC and stereo controls in it.
