I've heard the name before. You make it sound like you own/operate it... can you tell us how it works? If we were interested in getting a group of TBlazers together, could we set up our own date? (kinda like a private party?)

you absolutly could have a TrailBlazer only group. I do not own/operate the property but I am a Staff member/Trail Leader. If you go on the forum and register you can PM Robocon. His name is Kelly and he is the operator he can give you all the info on that you need on a private event. Tell him Ben sent you please. Also he is extremely busy with the up coming events so give him a day or so to respond and please don't everybody PM him about the same thing. Thanks.

I am an offroad enthusiast and love all brands. I drive a ZR2 Blazer at JeepSkool

Also I do believe that there are still dates available in the summer and early fall.

Good to hear about a new place to wheel and learn good technique. My parents house is actually 20 minutes west of your location. So I'm definitely game for an outing there. :woot:

Yes I am on zr2usa also. I am DaBen on there too. You guys should come out and ride with us. I personally love to see more off brand out there and really like to see vehicles you don't normally see offroad. We also have a class III 100yrd gun range lots of great fishing, hiking and some good trails for mountain biking too. It is a very family friendly park. This weekend my wife and kids will be in her Liberty me in My ZR2 and my in laws in their CJ7. The whoole Ohio portion of my family. Oh and camping is included with the $30 weekend pass.

Is it a guided tour only? Or once you are in the park does it become a free roam? Any maps of the trails avaliable? If not, do you have an address for the property? I'd like to take a look on Delorme or Satellite.

There are no maps nor am I allowed to give the exact address. Sorry but that is the rule. I will tell you on google earth you can see the haul road that runs down the middle and a bunch of trees and the lakes. The property is 1500 acres and we can wheel 1498 of it. The owner of the property needs a little something for himself. There are guided trail rides available and we encourage you to follow along with one to start the day and learn the property. We are not a guided ride only place. When you arrive at the park you will nbeed to register and pay then sit through a driver's meeting"skool". Your one session at "skool" is good for one year. We go over the rules of the park and basic offroad safety and recovery techniques. Please remember that this is a great place for new and old offroaders to hone there skills. The drivers meeting is conducted by Bob Crow owner of On&Off Road 4 wheel Drive. Bob is a great guy and super knowledgeable of all things offroad http://www.onandoffroad4wheeldrive.com/

There are more pics of the property here. http://www.southingtonhuntclub.com/

We would love to have you up here for one of our events. We have had some military vehicles out with us too. We had a deuce and a half out with us last month. We truly do have something for everybody. There are hotels within 20mins of the park also. Very easy access from I-80 also.

We meet at the corner of State Rte 82 and State Rte 44 in Mantua,OH at Haylett's Corner Store.(BP) Then we convoy/parade the 10ish miles from there. It keeps things orderly for getting into the park. There have been some occasions when we have gotten a police escort to the park. No stop lights to bottle necks.

99% of the trails in the park return to the haul road or at least to a trail that takes you there. There are a few sections that get confusing but getting lost is half the fun. After a few visits you can pretty much find your way around.

I would LOVE to check this out sometime!! Sounds AWESOME!

Do you have trails there that are 2WD friendly, or will you pretty much get laughed at if you show up in a 2WD? My truck is currently sitting on a 4/4 drop, but come august I'll be putting it back to stock, then lifting it 4-4.5" and putting 32's on it. I've never been 4-wheelin in a truck, but it's ALWAYS been something I've admired. I want a 4WD truck BAD, but I have student loans to pay off 1st, and my truck has been VERY good to me, so I can't justify getting rid of it just yet.

Also, would you mind if I spread this word out on my Colorado/Canyon forums? I know there's some people on our sites that would be interested in this as well. A 4WD Colorado buddy of mine was telling me about "some Jeep place" that he goes to, I wonder if this is the place? Have you ever seen an Orange, Regular Cab Z71 Colorado with a 4" lift and 33's on black Moto Metals there? He's got a 5th 33" spare mounted in the bed as well.

Right now the only 2wd we are allowing are buggies. We dont get many of them because there are only a few open areas to let them rip. For sure spread the word to your Canyon friends.

Also if you have an ATV check out http://www.atvskool.com/

Eff...that kind of sucks. Guess I'll have to wait a few more years to fullfill my off-roading dreams. :(

I'll make a thread about the park on my sites though, maybe I can just ride shotgun with someone. lol I'll just copy and paste all the info you've provided here, and direct people to join the forums...

Yup that is Bob Crows place. On&Offroad 4 wheel drive. He is a great guy and helps jeepskool a lot. He does the safety and recovery portion of the driver's meeting for us and then takes the beginners on a ride and helps them safely find the limits of there rigs.

Nice...

I have a thread up on my 355 site about JeepSkool. I'm waiting for a response from Robocon so we can plan a date to come out!

Or maybe you could answer real quick. I know these JS's are on the 1st weekend of every month, and that exceptions may be made for a group. How big would the group have to be for us to come on a weekend other than the 1st? Or should we just plan to attend a regular JS event?

I'm with james

Yea I'm with James part of safe off roading is knowing where you are going and if you can handle it. It's kind of too far to go for me without a map or a location though. But it sounds like a pretty cool place to learn off roading.
