It's now August 2024 & I've kept my good ol Chevy looking & running better than some of these newer electric bombs. I LOVE my 07 Trailblazer! But my radio began to come on (display-wise but with NO SOUND, with an added tid-bit of information, the radio sound will randomly sometimes still come on after driving a long drives (weird). I'm thinking something is loose. I'm NOT electronically inclined & really don't have the ability or the $$$ to pay someone to check this out or replace the radio. I can get a new radio & replace itself, but the issue needs to be addressed 1st or that'll be a HUGE waste of $$$! Does anyone know if this year/model came with a single or double din radio? It's the V6 LS no 4WD? I'll keep reading on for answers & check back as well! Thank, GenX Single Mom & Army Veteran 🫡

Are you having any other strange electrical problems with the dash lights, the door locks, etc?

It could be the ignition switch. The thing with the ignition switch is that they are a known weakness and the question is when will the ignition switch go bad as opposed to if it will go bad.

Here is a link to the how to change the ignition switch:

You might be able to get ahead of some troubles by changing the ignition switch before it causes other problems like a no start condition. Suggested ignition switch brands are Standard Motor Products (non T series), NAPA Echlin, and BWD (no P series). FYI, GM no longer sells GM Genuine or ACDelco ignition switches for these vehicles.

If you determine that the radio itself is defective, and you are going to replace it, please go to www.crutchfield.com. Crutchfield are The Experts when it comes to choosing new radios for post 2000 model year vehicles. The reason being is that the majority of post 2000 year cars are all computer controlled and the new radios need to be compatible with all the computer modules in the vehicle. Crutchfield has done the hard part and figured out what each vehicle needs, and which radios will work with the vehicles along with what installation kits are needed in order for everything to work right.

Good LUck!

Its probably just the stock radio goind out

I have a kenwood unit in mine with touch screen, backup camera, and the steering wheel controls work.

If you are not good at electronics im sure a local shop can help.

Dont go to best buy or walmart... go to a shop that does theis for a living.

Radios arer simple and it be hard for them to screw up, have them also install a backup cam while at it... sooooo worth it

If you really dont have the funds then just go to the pick and pull and grab any radio out of any 2002-2009 trailblazer

Another possibility is the radio is fine but all the speakers are going out. By the time my 2005 was 5-6 years old, all four door speakers had completely died.

If you remove any one door trim, you could connect another speaker temporarily or even a wired headphones just to check if the signal from the head unit is fine.

All replacement factory radios are tied to the vehicle vin for theft prevention. Reprogramming is required. This makes a bargain used factory radio not a bargain.

I also had my factory speakers fail. Replaced with some Kicker's DS Series 43DSC6504 6-1/2" speakers. They work really well with a factory headunit. Don't require a lot of power.
