05 tb 4.2 When I turn the ac on, it doesn't get cold. Tried a recharge kit, but the directions state to read the gauge while the clutch is engaged. The problem is, the clutch only comes on for about a second at time then cuts back off?? Can this be repaired without replacing the whole compressor??

There is a low pressure switch that will turn the clutch off if the pressure is too low. Its on the low side of the AC right up against the passenger firewall behind the coolant reservoir.

Maybe your switch is defective and the system is charged just disabling itself OR maybe you are low on refrigerant...

This thread may help for proper fill, after you get the compressor to stay on...

With the AC off check if the system is filled to about the right level...

STATIC pressures. The pressures should be within the specifications listed below.

• Above 16°C (60°F): 345 kPa (50 psi)
• Above 24°C (75°F): 483 kPa (70 psi)
• Above 33°C (90°F): 690 kPa (100 psi)

Good luck.
