I was puzzled as to why my alarm doesn't go off.

I've done numerous tests, including locking the door, leaving the window down and reaching my hand in to unlock the car. No alarm.

Figured out that if you replace the factory radio or head unit, the alarm is basically disabled.

I know that I can purchase an aftermarket alarm kit, but I dont understand where I even connect it!
I have an 04 Envoy.

Please advise me.

Aftermarket alarms come with instructions, or you can buy one and the shop will install it for you. Recommend that's the route you should go if you have little electrical experience.

You probably don't have any other alarms either, alarms like "door open", "seatbelt not fastened", "park brake on".

All alarms use the vehicles speakers.

Kits are available to correct this problem.

I kept the factory speakers so i still hear the open door chimes and such.
I guess i'll just buy one and read the instructions!
