I've sorta just been "browsing" this site for the past few weeks with no need to yet post. But this one I just can't leave alone...

It sounds like most of you know nothing about nitrous or how it works and you're consequently giving horrible and false information to the OP.

You can run nitrous--wet or dry--on a STOCK motor all day long. The only thing you would need is colder plugs. It's not a "track-only" type thing and it's actually SAFER than a turbo or supercharger.

I ran nitrous for three years on my Sunfire, stock motor, and had no problems at all. Nitrous burnouts, highway passes and anywhere between 40 and 60 h.p. jets; MANY bottles were emptied. When I tore the motor down to be built, pistons and valvetrain were clean as a whistle. The owner of our shop ran a 150-shot on his stock 3100 1996 Grand Prix until he decided to build the motor for more. Internals were mint and no damage was noticed.

aK_47: If you really want to know how nitrous works, hit me up or check out the NOS website's FAQ section. It's a plethora of knowledge.

Ok I admit I do not know a whole lot about nitrousing a vehicle since I have never done it. Now, since you have stated that we do not know about nitrousing our vehicles and both of you list having the I6 engine as I do....are your trailblazers Nitroused and if so how are they running. I have thought about nitrous and now you have started a thread so can ya give more details on which brand works best.... what shot would work....and of course I know the price reaches upwards of $500.00.
The TB is one of my four vehicles and one of my 2 daily drivers. It'll never see nitrous, or boost for that matter. You don't want to spray more than half your OEM horsepower and I prefer the NOS brand. $500.00 will only get you nitrous--none of the goodies like the gauges, warmer, purge or remote bottle opener.

***Tune for nitrous, eh? Can you explain to me why this particular vehicle needs a special tune for nitrous? I've sprayed a lot of newer vehicles consistently and never, ever needed to update the stock tune.

This thread is basically just a heaping pile of bad information. It really should be deleted.

NOS specifically states that a basic kit can be used on a 100% OEM vehicle...safely. Read for yourself:

http://www.holley.com/TechService/FAQ.asp?category=NOS

Before I built the motor in my Sunfire for turbo, I ran a 60-shot for 3 years while it was my daily driver at college. No engine management changes, no breakage of anything whatsoever and probably went through 15-20 10lb bottles. But you're telling me that a 6cyl TB would pop it's motor on the same setup without a tune? Very mis-informed...

Holley makes the equipment they're selling, of course they're going to say it's safe.
Yeah, and Glock makes 9mm handguns; they don't tell you it's safe to run other ammo types through it. What's your point?

But what do I know, I only work on engines 6 out of the 7 days of the week.[
Apparently you don't know much--about nitrous, at least. You think it was just luck that I didn't blow a 2.2L engine on a 60shot, spraying for years? Or that we didn't blow our '96 Grand Prix (had basic bolt-on's at the time) with a 100shot, and ran it consistently? When the GP was torn down for a full build, internals were so clean you could eat off them.

You may deal with straight mechanics more, but I've been working with nitrous and turbo's since 2002. Haven't yet seen a motor blow while respecting it's tolerances.
