Alright, so I have a trailblazer engine I bought with 99k miles on it because I gave up repairing my trailblazer engine, I have the engine out and I have a new timing chain and oil pump, should I change them before I put the new engine in or should I just drop the engine in?

Always easier out of the engine and with that engine you have to do it out of it!You need to take oil pan off to do the timing chain(because of the bottom two bolts of the cover).

You'd be crazy NOT to do it while the engine is out.

IMO, also change the thermostat, temp. sensor, water pump, and serpentine belt too......and maybe even the fan clutch if you're not sure it was never done before.

I know it sounds like a lot of stuff and $$ too, but it will be SO easy compared to being in the vehicle, plus you KNOW that these items are all "good to go".
