I have a 2005 gmc envoy sle 4.2L 6 cyl. the check engine light came back on after changing camshaft sensor , solenoids, theromstat, coolant temp sensor etc. i know the code Po410 is secondary air injection system but what do i have to replace? Oh and would that make the suv idle high while driving and loss in accleration? Please help.:ugh::ugh:

None of those repairs should directly impact the AIR system, however double check your work to make sure you haven't accidentally disconnected or dislodged a harness.

We need to walk through some diagnosis and not just throw parts at the vehicle. Remember that DTC's do not neccessarily indicate a defective part, but abnormal response within a system.


Do you have a scan tool and what kind? You will need bi-directional control to complete this diagnostic routine.


Please complete these tasks and respond back with your findings at your convenience:

1) Scan the car for other DTCs.

If DTC's found, STOP.
If no other DTC's, then continue

2) KOEO (key on engine off), visually confirm that the AIR pump is operating.

If Operating, go to #3.
If NOT Operating, go to #4.

3) If AIR pump is operating, test for the following
* Short to voltage in supply circuit
* Faulty pump relay
* Short to ground in control circuit
* Faulty control module

4) KOEO, command the AIR pump on with the scan tool. Visually confirm that the AIR pump is operating.

5) If AIR pump is NOT operating, test the following:
* Resistance > 2 ohm in AIR pump supply voltage or ground circuits
* High resistance / short to ground in either AIR pump relay voltage supply circuits
* High resistance / short to voltage in AIR pump relay control circuit
* Faulty AIR pump relay
* Faulty AIR pump
* Faulty control module

Depending on your answers here, we split either into circuit testing or component testing.

The parts i replaced had codes to them so i replaced them. and havent came back up just the P0410 code has. But would that make the envoy hard on gas and idle high while driving with loss of acceleration? But i will try what you said and will get back to you. How would i know if the air pump is working?

Right, which on the 4.2L should be in the underhood fuse block. Fuse #54 for the solenoid (15A) and #56 for the actual pump (60A). #55 is the micro-relay for the pump. Should test that as well.

Also check for a good, clean connection at the main battery terminals.

Looks like fuse #54 also feeds the anti-theft system.

Can some one tell me what all these numbers and letters mean.

I did a live data scan on my 2005 Gmc Envoy sle and all these came up

Locating Smog Pump Fuse

Hello,
I received an error code P0410 and it said smog pump inadequate operation. I checked several YouTube videos and they said to check the fuse first. On my '04 Envoy, where is that fuse located? I want to try that first before purchasing the pump.
