Hello all from your MN State Rep.

I was looking at the midwest meet calendar for this summer and noticed there's nothing going on in August yet. I know this may be a bit far out for some of you, but I'm the type to plan in advance, so here goes.

I'd like to hold a meet at the Mall Of America this August. I was thinking either the 15th or the 22nd.

Anyone from surrounding states that have wanted a reason to drive up for a day at the MOA, this would be a perfect time for it. There are tons of hotels in the area, lots of restaurants, entertainment, and fun.

The Mall of America is a great family place, so kids/spouses/significant others are more than encouraged to attend.

Let's hear some ideas or opinions!

I know there are more MN people on here that need to fulfill their 1 meet minimum to maintain chapter eligibility.

So what kind of activities do we have planned for this gathering? Are we going to "tailgate" in the parking lot? Set up tents? I'll bring my Term Lab set up for testing the systems, so we can have a mini DB drag if you want. My wife is asking what reason she has for going. She's not as enthusiastic about the TB as I am.:weird:

I'm open to ideas. I was planning on making it like a tailgaiting thing, bring a grill and some brats & hotdogs. The mall is right across the street, so there's a ton to do in there. They have a newly re-themed amusement park (Nickelodeon Universe) that has stuff for the kids and a few rides that even adults will find entertaining. There's tons of shopping and restaurants in there as well. Also, if you're into Swedish furniture, there's an Ikea across the lot from where we'll be.

If your wife is into jewelry I could probably talk my wife into having a show at the meet. She sells Lia Sophia jewelry, which is always a big hit with the ladies.

The dB drag would be pretty cool. How do those normally work? Do you set it up tournament style, or do you just test everyone's dB level and highest is the winner?

Any other ideas anyone has are more than welcome. We can work together to make this a meet for everyone, not just the hard-core enthusiasts. :thumbsup:

I think im gonna be movin into my dorm on these days, but ill try to make it.

It isnt looking good for me having a TB though. All out of my price range of 5k... unless i want some old ass one with a billion miles.

You could buy mine, then I can get an SS. It's old, but I'm not quite to a billion miles yet.

This meet would be a blast. I have never been to mall of America. We are expecting our baby sometime around then so I am unable to attend. Enjoy:thumbsup:

Meet Details!!

The meet is less than a month away! I'm getting really excited to finally meet you guys in person, so I guess it's about time I let everyone know what I have planned. I figure we can meet at Minnehaha Park for meets, greets, and eats then cruise down to the Mall.(MAP AND ROUTE HERE)

Minnehaha park is a fun, beautiful park in the heart of Minneapolis. They have tons of paved walking trails, a few playgrounds, picnic areas, and some light hiking is available for those who so desire. The park hosts what is arguable Minneapolis' most magnificent waterfall, too. The area should work well for photo shoots, so bring your cameras.

I forgot to mention that the Mall Of America also has a HUGE underground aquarium called Underwater Adventures. If we can get more than 20 people in a group we can qualify for a discounted rate. Let me know if anyone is interested.

If anyone is interested in hotels I can look into getting a group rate. I just need to know who is seriously interested so I can give them an estimated number of rooms.

If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns give me a shout. I'll try my hardest to make this meet as fun for everyone as I can. I can pretty much guarantee we won't be getting lost in any woods, so shiny rides are welcome. :dielaugh:

i'm still a maybe as of rite now... but i'm more 60/40 in favor of yes... gotta rep the chi-town crew... if i do go i will probably need a room... probably stay fri and sat nite... mite take a half day at work to get there early...

It would be great to have you there, but family comes first. There'll be another meet. Probably in the spring. No ones wants to come up here in the winter. :dielaugh:
