For a permanent repair, remove the part you want to restore and spary it with Eastwood's Plastic resurfacer Matte black Aerosol. Item #15089ZIt's $25 bucks at eastwood.com.

X2 for the Eastwood product. Its pricey but it works and it lasts and lasts
I did mine about 5 years ago and it still looks good. (just a few touch ups needed on rear bumper needed)

303 protectant is a good choice. It won't provide the deepest black finish, but it has UV protection to prevent trims and rubbers from fading quickly.

I can attest to the fact that Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer works fantastic. give it a try.
