Lots of sanding and still not as perfect as I want but close. Here is what I am working with so far. Sorry the photo quality is not the best. Only pics for now. I'll take more soon.

Left the reverse lens untouched. Yes, the third brake light and reflectors are done as well.

wax and grease remover

scotch brite pad to scuff it up

bulldog adhesion promoter

4 or 5 coats of tint

3 coats of clear

wet sand with 2000 grit

buff and polish

is there a certain brands that works best ????:thx
I used Niteshade off of Ebay. I bought a few cans and still have 1 left over. I did nothing to prep mine and sprayed about 6 or 7 coats over the lights. Mine are as dark as the black paint and light shines through fine. I had left them the matte black until last week when I wet sanded them and did 4 coats of clear coat on them. Waxed and polished them. Now they are shiny, but still have a different texture then the car. I love them now. Will post pics soon. And Craig, you can have the extra can I have if you want it!
certain brand of what?

polish??
I got me a donor taillight from the hubby's silverado to try it out on!:woot:
YIPPEE the 3rd auto store I went to had 2 cans of niteshades!
Thanks MajesticLt03for ur help:thumbsup:

will post pics of the finished product:thumbsup:
I'll going to post better quality pics this evening, with a new camera. I'm taking them off, beefing up the clear, and doing a more aggressive wet sand.
looks great! how do you go about doing that? just wondering how hard it was

look at my post showing the steps to take..
yeah i skipped a page on accident my bad:bonk:
if ya wet sand them with a 2000 grit paper then clear them they will be shiny.

no you clear them.. THEN wet sand with 2000 then buff and polish

It's true. You can even try 1000, 1500, and then 2000. It will take less time.

well I wetsand then clear,,,,my theory is if you clear over orange peeled paint all the wet sandinging and polishing in the world wont make a difference cause the orange peeled paint has been sealed in by the clear.
Looks Awesome! Same color as mine, also used VHT Niteshade. As of where to find it - I work at Advance (not Advanced ) Auto Parts, and you should be able to get it from your local store. If they do not stock it, they can order it for you, and if one of the front retail counter guys says they can't just politely have them check with a commercial parts pro. The SKU that we use to sell it is SP999 and we sell it for $12.99 a can, well worth it because the stuff is awesome, especially when applied properly! It can also be found online, but for the price, support your local Advance Auto store!
really nice look. this is something i would consider doing, but how much does it affect the overall brightness of your taillights?

It's an ever so slight dimming of your lights brightness, it mostly doesn't affect it because it is a translucent paint which means it is designed to allow light to pass through.
