Thanks for all of the reply's. When I received the quote from my GM dealer, I was told reprogramming was required. $50.00 charge. I want to have my mechanic do the work, but he doesn't have the ability to program. Are you sure the fan clutch can be replaced without programing.

:tiphat Welcome :tiphat .Reprogramming is not needed. However there is an update that gets the fan turning faster, sooner for A/C cooling at start-up. The up-date is not required.:m2:

Welcome to the forum! No update is needed...in fact you can save yourself some cash and do it yourself. It's about a two hour job.

I believe the $50.00 charge is for the 1/2 hour of service it would take to reprogram. I think I'm just going to have it replaced and not worry about reprograming.

If you find yourself at idle quite a bit, and its not cold enough, the programming is something that you can get done anytime. I changed mine with no program, and did not notice any difference. Save your $50 for now!
