I've had my 2005 Trailblazer Ext. for 14 months. It currently has 72,000 miles on it. All four wheels have disc brakes. A week or so ago, I noticed a noise in the passenger side rear wheel. It only happens when backing up. It sounds like a high pitched whine or squeal.
Is that indication of brake wear? Is that normal for rear brakes to wear out before the front ones?
Or could this be an indication of a problem with the 4 wheel drive? or wheel bearing? or antilock brakes?
Also, I know how to change disc brake pads, I've done front wheels on many different cars over the years, but never rear ones. Is there any thing I need to know that's different on the rear, such as e-brake, antilock, etc?
I'm a DIYer, so any information that will help is greatly appreciated!
