Bought my 2006 GMC Envoy Denali a year ago with 165,000 miles on the clock, now at 170,000. I've always used 5w30 Mobil One synth. in all my previous cars, but not sure about this 5.3L LH6 AFM motor. Does using synthetic oil have any negative effects on
the AFM system with the funky lifters?? I'd like to think the synth. oil may be better on the lifters and perhaps clean the oil passages better to prevent some of the lifter issues I've read about with the AFM motors.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks....Dennis in Missouri

As long as it meets the GM specs there is zero reason not to use full synthetic oil. I use Mobil1 in my six banger.
