OK... Give the Newb a little room to vent first. I could not find anything that matched this issue in "search."
I recently purchased a 2008 Trailblazer, 10K miles and never previously owned... and a great price. Love it.
After purchase and a trip shortly thereafter to So. Cal., I realized that OnStar was not activarted. So I activate it and choose the "Directions and Connections" setup. All is well. Yesterday I call to activate service with Verizon and OnStar on Verizon's Family Share Plan (I can add the TB as an extra line on my wireless bill for $10 a month and use our shared minutes... and I use A LOT with what I do). This is a GREAT feature and one major reason why I went with the TB.
I should also say that I have had several conversations in the last few weeks with both OnStar and Verizon about how to best configure my setup (i.e. whether to put the new number on the TB or put my current number in the TB and have it forwarded to my cell when I am not in the vehicle).
AT NO TIME did anyone give any indication of a window closing for signing up for this feature.
In any case, yesterday (July 17), I called to set this up and am told by both Verizon and OnStar that they are NOT signing up any NEW customers... they are only serving continuing customers. After numerous phone calls to both companies and climbing the chain on both... no satisfaction! Now understand... this is one of two deal-breaker features that I checked on before I purchased (the other was comfort
). I now own a TB (past 30 day window to return) and no functionality with Verizon. Now, this my sound like a detail to some... but for me it is the "bell ringer" feature.
Any advice would be appreciated?
