I have a 2002 trailblazer LS, started it, no problems, idle was fine even when in drive, then when I pulled out into the street and went to accelerate, it’s like it didn’t want the gas or want to accelerate. It’s done it a couple times. Please help

Lots o' possibilities here Will..... and you know, don't you, that with a straight line like yours.... well... I can think of a lot of funny lines....

I digress.... on to your problem...... but there's a long list of possibilities..... let me enumerate...and possibly throw in a few zinger lines too while I'm at it.......

  1. Bad/dying fuel pump :/
  2. An unhappy :( forward clutch in transmission.
  3. Plugged catalytic converter :p
  4. Gooey-dirty throttle body. :x
  5. You didn't offer up if you've got a Check Engine light lit or not ......
  6. There will be questions later on, but first....... a diatribe.....
  7. It's raining.....
  8. 'n I'm depressed 'cause I've got a fuel pump on a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am to do in my driveway....
  9. 'n it's raining....
  10. 'n my driveway's dirt (no, make that: mud)
  11. 'n it's raining
  12. 'n my cardboard is all wet....
  13. 'cause it's raining
  14. 'n my floor jack sunk in the mud.......
  15. 'n it's raining
  16. 'n I really REALLY want to go fishing instead...
  17. 'n it's raining
  18. 'n the fish don't mind getting rained-on....
  19. 'n it's raining
  20. 'n come to think of it: neither do I 'cause there's no soap in rain.....
  21. 'n it's raining
  22. 'n I'm retired....
  23. 'n it's raining
  24. 'n I should be fishing.....
  25. 'n it's raining
  26. 'n I got nothing else here for you at the mo'.........
  27. 'cause it's raining
Did I mention that it's raining?

OK --- new list....
Because you said that it backed up OK - then we have to suspect the only thing that changes when you choose to go forward - the transmission. --- maybe.

  1. The transmission is starting out in a higher gear than it should - might be an electrical problem with a shifting solenoid inside the transmissio.
  2. I'd start there ↑ - because i'm not there where you are and I cannot test drive it myself.

i never said anything about reverse. I back into my parking spot at home. It’s just once a day that it happens and many people have told me it’s the throttle body

The title of your post suggests that you had sputtering or misfires but you didn't state that in the body of your original post. If there was sputtering or misfires I would think the problem is most likely fule/air/spark related and not anything to do with the transmission. Even though your CEL is not lit If you have access to an OBDII code reader I would highly suggest getting your codes read because you possably have pending codes that will give you better direction what to look into. There is a possibility it could be a bad throttle body, but at $200-$400 that is a rather expensive part to shotgun replace instead of doing proper diagnostics to verify that the part is bad.

I had the same issue with my 04 trailblazer. I would hit my accelerator, nothing. I pressed the pedal again, it moved as if it never missed a step. My truck didn't throw a code that I could see. However, when I hooked it up, I pulled a code. As said previously, make sure you get it checked before you make an unnecessary purchase.

..................... you're not likely to get any responses from people who have died since the last post in 2020 .. well --- except for me --- I'm still here and just got an email notice that an old post in which I had conferred was now active - again.

It's best to start your own post and start from scratch --- OK? ... and next time, don't write in invisible ink --- OK?
