Hey everyone I have a couple of ?s I'm lookiing into getting some subs prob. 3 in a sealed box. Now the ? I have is what would be the best choice, I need help choosing btw two diff. subs this is my first set and I'm unfamiliar with them.

First set is Alpine Type R's SWR-1242D

Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene™ rubber surround
cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting

peak power: 1,500 watts
sensitivity: 85 dB
top-mount depth: 7-5/8"
sealed box volume: 0.57-1.0 cu. ft.
ported box volume: 0.75-2.0 cu. ft.

Second set Image Dynamics IDQ12D2 V.2
Nominal Impedance (IMP) 1 / 4 ohm
DC Resistance (Re) .975 / 3.9 ohms
Resonant Frequency (Fs) 19Hz
Electrical "Q" (Qes) .271
Mechanical "Q" (Qms) 4.59
Total "Q" (Qts) .256
Equivalent Volume (Vas) 5.04 ft3
One Way Linear (Xmax) 13.5 mm
Cone Area (Sd) 530 cm2

Im going to be powering these with a Alpine amp MRP-M1000. Now I found the Alpine Type R's on amazon for $104 each and the local radio shop is basically selling them for $99. The box is $150 from the local shop. any opinions about the 2 diff. subs. THX in adv sorry about the long thread.

well first of all 3x subs you will have a 1.34 ohm impedence, so you wont be able to wire your alpine 1000 to 1 ohm so that is out of the question, so you will have to wire it to 3 ohms. so you'll be seeing like 700 watts, i know that the one type r can handle that load all day long.

so your gonna need a bigger amp, or three subs wount be efficent, and just be a waste of room.

the R's are cheap, they are some of the best overall subs for the price.

the ID's are nice sounding subs, but i dont think they will get as loud as the R's.

well the biggest reason was the box for 3 would fit perfectly between the wheelbase. Maybe a stupid reason lol what do you think. Will it sound a diff over 2?

if you want cheap and sound better do 2x r's on 1000 -1500 watts

or

sound good for the ID's on 1000-1200 watts.

i know that theyre cheap but right now money is tight so Im going to get what i can. So the Type R's should be the way to go between the 2 thats the way I was leaning

you can run 2x R's on 1000 watts 2 ohms

or

3x R's on 1500 watts at 3 ohms, so your gonna need like a 2000 watt amp at 2 ohms.

so

2x R's on 1x alpine 1000

or

3x R's on 2x alpine 1000, assuming they are strapable.

if money is tight look into the Hifonics BXI 1208 or 1608, they are like $250ish.

they are one ohm stable, so 2x Dual 4's, and your set.

ive seen lots of setups with Type R's and Hifonics.

most companies will void their warranties if you buy them from a non-authorized seller (ie, the internet).

so it doesnt really matter if you buy from ebay, amazon, or anyone off the internet.

except for maybe crutchfield.

if your going with the alpine 1000 you need 2x dual 2s for a 2 ohm final impedence.
