My 02 Envoy developed a really bad fuel leak, it's dripping out under the rear door, would it be the fuel filter that possibly rotted? I didn't snag anything, I just started smelling gas, then noticed it. It took over a 1/4 tank for a 40 minute drive home!

Ya but that's behind the rear wheel though. It also stops leaking once the engine is shut off.

STOP DRIVING IT NOW!

The fuel lines above the fuel tank are likely rusted out. Get that fixed before you burn the thing up. It will require the removal of the fuel tank at a minimum to gain access. It would be wise to replace the fuel pump module while the tank is out. Likely will need some replacement fuel piping also.
