So, a little background. I took it in for broken sway bar links this spring. I didn't have time to do them myself. He replaced both sides with new, GM links. One was split in half and the other, the stud popped out of the socket of the link itself.

A few weeks later, I had a clunk in the front end again. Brought it back and he had forgotten to tighten one nut, so he replaced under warranty, less than three weeks later, the second replacement popped out of the link socket. At this point I asked if there was anything that would be causing them to break. Nothing noticed.

Last Thursday, I was replacing a torn cv boot on the driver's side and noticed the stub popped out of the socket on the driver's side this time. I called today, and it is going back in Thursday.

Has anyone been having problems with the links? These are all from the local dealership, genuine GM parts. I'm thinking poor quality control from the OEM, but I'm starting to feel guilty for going back for free warranty labour.

GM end links are crap. Buy after market. I have Moog end links. They have been on my truck for at least 65k miles. No problems. GM are no good. That is why you are replacing them. Look on this site. Most everyone has had to replace them because they are CRAP.

I just replaced mine with the Raybestors pro version which are prob Ac Delco pros since they look the same..The OEM links are complete garbage and I would never put those back on....You should also replace the bushings since they are rubber crap that go out over time.

Why should you feel guilty? The dealer doesn't feel guilty taking your money and lets be honest unless you are buddies with the dealership owner, they don't care about consumers.

When my tank was leaking and they did an extended warranty on it, they expected me to drive around like the photo attached? I don't think so, I got a lawyer to write a nice letter to the dealership. They gave me a rental and $2,250 later my tank came in and my vehicle was fixed. I don't feel guilty and they sure as hell didn't give a sh$t that about me driving around with a leaky tank.

Here's a huge reason to never go back OEM to sway bar links especially the rears, the fronts are not that bad to do. The rears well that's a different story due to the top link brackets and little room, and POS locking nuts that gets tighter towards the end of taking the nut off. I just wasted 2 and half hrs trying to get the links from moving using vice grips, open ended wrenches, etc. I just give up, these links are a piss poor design and I am surprised they even last past 5,000 miles.

I am either going to take off the rear tires and try again tomorrow or just take it to a shop to have them cut off the nuts and also loosen the rear swaybar nuts as they are super tight and I couldn't even remove them using a pipe for leverage. I cant say enough how these OEM links are complete junk.

I wouldn't use œ mend links on a kids toy. Moot is the best out there! Change own with Orem,had to cut one off and not easy with a disc and new one lasted 6 months if that and then used moot which went on so easy and been on for years.

That's the thing, I didn't bring it to the dealer. I brought it to an independant mechanic that I've developed a good working trust with. He's out of pocket for labour to change three links and counting. He's the one that chose the GM parts and installed them. I don't give a damn about GM paying for new parts, I just feel he's getting screwed on labour by warrantying them.

I also don't want to have to spend more money for parts because the OEM ones are crap.

As long as he keeps warrantying them, OEM parts it is, especially since I want to replace it within two years. It's starting to show its age.

That's the 2008 end of production end link in the front.. I've ordered the moog replacements with the fancy plastic , white to replace them..

Those parts are the same for my 1973 Charger hahahahh


by the way what is the torque needed to tighten up these end links ?

I had same prob. always loosened on me,


the Moog links are supposed to be tightened to 74 ft/lbs.

which i tried on my red carquest ones (pic attached) , and ended up breaking the threads. changed nut, added a second nut and used loctite. holding for now.
