Hey guys...First post obviously :)
08 Envoy Denali 160K
-4 degrees outside
Cold start= Plastic/rubber burning smell from out the exhaust for the first sec or 2. Can actually see the change in color. Doesn't come back unless another cold start. Did this the last 4 cold starts. No vent or hood smell/smoke. Seen posts about plastic bags but obviously not the case. Any Ideas?? Also the cabin temp sensor(near the left ear of the driver)was making a squeal noise? Slamming the door would make it turn on and off. Why would this "sensor" make noise? Thanks for any input :)

Not sure if the V8 is equipped with a Secondary Air Injection System (SAIS) like the 6 cylinder engine is, but that may be the source of the smell. The SAIS turns on for about 20 - 30 seconds on a cold start to introduce more air into the exhaust system to O2 sensor and catalytic converter with dealing with a rich fuel mixture.

As far as the temp sensor, it contains a small fan and it is probably failing or there is dirt around it.

Wow I didn't know there was a little fan inside there. Ill have to check that out.
Looked through Alldata...Cant find anything on a Secondary Air Injection System.
