Ok, so yesterday I was waiting in line to pick up my daughter from school, had driven my '02 Envoy for about an hour previous with no problems, and out of the blue it starts coughing and sputtering, and eventually dies. Low Oil Pressure flashes.
I start it up again, and for the duration of picking her up and driving the half mile home, the RPM's dip and surge, and almost stalls repeatedly unless I give it gas. While driving it would hesitate when I'd accelerate and then surge and go.
Checked the oil and other fluids at home, everything good, other than that the oil is pretty dirty looking - needs changed. Started it back up and it ran fine.
Drove her back to school this morning with no problems, then drove it to the store this afternoon - again with no problem.
Waiting in line again...it did fine until I hit a bump going into the school drive and immediately started choking. All the way home when I'd press the accelerator it would hesitate, then surge repeatedly this time even wanting to die while I was giving it gas, shuddering, nearly stalling, then going again. (one of the stalling times, the low oil pressure message and check gauges light came on) Pulled in my driveway, barely going, went over a bump pulling into the carport - and it started running fine again. Sat there and let it run for several minute with no trouble.
Haven't taken it to have to codes pulled yet - my SES light was already on with codes pointing to a possible Throttle Position sensor, or Accelerator Position sensor. Just cleaned my throttle body a couple of weeks ago.
Any one have any ideas? At this point, I'm thinking that the low oil pressure thing probably has more to do with the dropping RPMs rather than an oil problem, but not sure what's causing that problem. Would it be connected with the throttle sensor, and what would cause it to start and stop when I hit a bump (both times the bump - more like a sudden drop of several inches - was only on the right side, if that matters).
Off topic, but this thing has caused us pretty much nothing but trouble, especially in the last several months, and my hubby is about ready to ditch it! :suicide:
Any light anyone could shed on the subject would be helpful - can't really the dealership again right now - just gave them and nice little chunk of our money last month!
